Well, as we entered the weekend we had the best of intentions and plans... we all know how that can sometimes go! We went to our dear friends the Cutrer's for the 1st FSU Family tailgate of the season. The food, the friends, the fun! The fabulous birthday cake from The Longs! Everyone was having a wonderful time - the kids were playing in the backyard, the adults cheering on the Seminoles (who won by the way, 46-7) everyone was having a great time.... then on a trip to the cooler to get a juice box - tragedy! Our sweet little Emily cut her foot on some glass, after Mommy turned ghostly white and our friends rallied around us... Bret & I rushed Em to the ER where after 3 1/2 hours and 19 stitches later we headed home a bit frazzled and exhausted. I am not sure how Emily will react when she has to see another doctor because after screaming at the top of her lungs - "NO, DOCTORS - STAY AWAY DOCTORS," during the procedure...she is not very fond of the medical profession. It is heart breaking to see your child in pain and through my tears, I was grateful for my dear Bret's brave demeanor and calmness - little did I know at the time how he was also feeling the same "parental tummy ache" that I was feeling.
But now for the good news. Our little princess is lying in our bed - foot propped up on a pillow with her juice and goldfish, her favorite books and "her shows"... she might actually be living the life of a princess! We have to carry her everywhere, so life for Mommy & Daddy should be fun.... Anyway, she is doing great - we just need to try and keep her off her foot for several days for it to heal - this should be fun with an active 3-year old!
So as for Bret's B-Day celebration - it sort of took an interesting turn but we will all be together and will enjoy some birthday cake - what more could the Morris' ask for!
